1. What this policy covers

This Cookie Policy explains how Biomechanical Freekick Analysis (the "Service") uses cookies and similar technologies on your device, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

2. What counts as a "cookie" here

The Dutch cookie rule — Article 11.7a of the Telecommunications Act (Telecommunicatiewet), which implements the EU ePrivacy Directive — isn't limited to browser cookies in the strict sense. It covers storing information on your device, or reading information already stored there, by any technical means. That includes the local storage and IndexedDB entries our sign-in system (Firebase Authentication) creates in your browser. In this Policy, "cookie" means all of these technologies, unless we say otherwise.

3. The categories we use

Category Purpose Consent needed?
Strictly necessary Keeping you signed in between page loads (Firebase Authentication session data); remembering basic interface state No — necessary for a service you've explicitly requested (art. 11.7a(3) Tw)
Security Google reCAPTCHA, used on the upload form to tell human users apart from bots before your video is processed Generally treated as necessary to protect a service you've requested. Google also uses reCAPTCHA signals for its own fraud-prevention network across other sites, so if you want to be extra cautious, only load the reCAPTCHA script once someone reaches the upload form, or list it as a category people can opt out of.
Analytics
(confirm whether you use this)
Understanding how visitors use the Service — for example, Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics, if enabled Yes — opt-in consent required before these are set
Advertising Not currently used N/A — we'll update this table and ask for consent if that changes

4. How we ask for your consent

When you first visit the Service, a banner asks whether you accept non-essential cookies (currently: analytics, if enabled). Accepting and rejecting are equally easy — one click either way — no box is pre-ticked for you, and you can still create an account and upload a video even if you reject non-essential cookies. We do not operate a "cookie wall".

5. Cookie and storage table

Name / type Set by Purpose Duration
Firebase Authentication session data
(local storage / IndexedDB)
This site, via the Firebase SDK Keeps you signed in Until you sign out, or it expires
reCAPTCHA cookies
(e.g. _GRECAPTCHA)
google.com Distinguishing humans from bots Up to approximately 6 months (set by Google — see their own documentation for the current figure)
Analytics cookies
(e.g. _ga, _ga_<id>) — only if enabled
google-analytics.com Usage statistics Up to 2 years

6. Managing cookies in your browser

You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings. This may stop parts of the Service — including signing in — from working correctly, since sign-in relies on this storage.

7. Third-party providers

Google's use of cookies and similar technologies is described in Google's own Privacy Policy and its reCAPTCHA-specific documentation. We don't control what Google does with the data it collects through these tools beyond what's described here and in our Privacy Policy.

8. Legal basis and oversight

This Policy reflects Article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act and the GDPR. The Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) enforces Article 11.7a, and the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) enforces the GDPR aspects of cookie use; the two coordinate on cases that involve both.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as the cookies and technologies we use change. We'll post the updated version here with a new effective date.
